31st May.

Up at 8.30am for breakfast anchored in the middle of Icy Strait. After breakfast we went down to deck 1 where we caught the tender to the main land. Once on dry land we had a look round the canning line display in the welcome building and then went for an half hour loop walk. Back at the welcome building it was time to check in for our Zip Line ride. When we'd filled in the usual waivers, we boarded the bus that took us up to the top of a high hill. On the way up the driver gave some commentary and stopped at some lovely view points and long enough to get our camera's back out when we spotted a deer by the road. At the top we got strapped in six at a go and then we were off down the longest zip line in the world and after 90 seconds we were back at the bottom. It wasn't the thrill ride we thought it would be, but the view on the way down was stunning. Back on solid ground we had a wander to the outskirts of the town Hoonah and along the way Cat spotted a Humpback Whale not far from the ship, I managed to see it just as the tail was going in the water, we also saw a few Bald Eagles flying just above our heads. Thank you babies (as Juan would say in the Galapagos) the wildlife was working well today. We then returned back to the ship and I went for a dip in the whirlpool while Cat read her book, then at 4pm we went to the Celebrity Theater to see Milos's talk called Fire and Ice which was all about how the volcanoes and glaciers had shaped the world. After that interesting geography lesson we went up to the Cosmos deck to do a bit of wildlife spotting and book reading, but it was closed due to a private function, so we both got our cozies on and went back to the whirlpools. At around 5.30pm we returned to the cabin for a shower and at 6.30 we headed back up to the theater to watch Don Gavin's (the 'Godfather' of Boston comedy) show which was quite funny. We then caught the end of a game show called Family Feud and joined in with that for a while and then went down to dinner in the restaurant at our table with the guys we met last night. We had a slightly more normal meal tonight with very filling meatballs and spaghetti, so
much so I had to walk around the decks for a while and then stretch my stomach out before going to bed.
