At around 7.30pm we arrived into Lima and caught a taxi to the hostel. Once we checked in, we walked into town to find Burger King for a nice tasty Whopper and then ice cream for dessert! Stomachs full we walked back to the hostel to watch some TV and then bed.
7th Feb.
Tried to lie-in as long as we could but forgot the builders across the street started work around 7am. Had scrambled eggs for breakfast and then wandered into town to buy a few supplies for lunch. We ate lunch in a small plaza on the way to Huaca Pucllana which is a pre Incan site founded by a race they call the Limas (they don't know what they were called so named them after the city). It is a fascinating pyramid temple made of mud bricks stacked like a bookcase. Even though it is only a third of it's original size due to the rise of Lima and the locals not realising it's historical value, it is still quite big and unlike an Egyptian Pyramid, the top is flat. After an interesting guided tour of the site and meeting their strange looking hairless dogs, we headed out and walked to a few parks on the way back to the hostel. After a rest and shower we headed into town to get some dinner at China Wok and an ice cream for dessert. When we got back the owners daughters party had got into full swing (her 15th, it's a big age out here) but we did manage to get some sleep by about 2am.
8th Feb.
Laid in bed till 9.30am and thought we'd better get up for breakfast. As we weren't up to much today we chilled in the room till lunchtime and then headed to some more parks on the other side of town and have our lunch there. Later we went to the supermarket to buy some rotisserie chicken and chips for dinner and enjoyed it back at our room. For dessert the owner gave us some birthday cake which was very nice. We then chilled in the room till 11pm then finished packing for our taxi ride to the airport at 11.30pm for our flight to Easter Island.
