13th Dec.

Woke up around 8am and we're handed a cake and tea then not long after another film, Deadliest Sea closely followed by The Book of Eli. At 1pm we had a lunch stop at Gobernador Costa and ate a slice of pizza to help keep us going and then 20min's later back on the bus for another 7hrs. In the afternoon the scenery got a lot better where we drove through beautiful snow capped mountains and lakes and every now and then saw more pink flamingos. So luckily we only got one movie thrown on which was another one we'd seen before, 2012 so we just watched the wonderful scenery go by. At 8.30pm we arrive into Bariloche so we loaded our bags and caught a local bus into the center and then walked uphill to the hostel. Once checked in, we were very pleased to find we had a fabulous view of the massive Lago Nahuel Huapi from our room. Then had a cup of tea and biscuits and by midnight we're tucked up in bed.

14th Dec.

Got up at a leisurely 9.30am looked out of our window at the beautiful lake view and enjoyed scones and jam for breakfast. We spent the rest of the day fact finding things to do, shopping for lunch and dinner and hunting out the street full of chocolate shops! For dinner I made chili con carne and rice and for dessert we walked down to Juaju chocolate shop for delicious chocolate and cookies, choc mint and strawberry yogurt ice cream, very nice! Tomorrow we're hiring a tandem to ride the Circuito Chico (29k) which goes around several lakes and beautiful scenery. PS Happy Birthday Mum!

15th Dec.

Got up at 7am to get some breakfast, as we had to catch the bus to Colonia Suiza ( as this was the only place in Bariloche that had a Tandem) at 8.10am and the next one wasn't until 12pm. Just under an hour later we arrived to find the restaurant that has the bike shop attached was closed until 10am! We found out after a quick knock on the door that the door was open, so we called out and a moment later the bike shop door opened and a chap came out with the bike that we'd hired. Fully kitted out with helmets, lock and puncture repair kits, we head off down the 3k dirt road to join the Circuit Chico. We asked at the hostel what the route was like and she obviously hasn't done it before, and she said it wasn't too hilly! She couldn't have been more wrong and adding the 3k to the bike shop and back (on dirt road) made the ride 32k (17.5miles) and believe me it had some pretty big, but rewarding hills and views worth the effort. We stopped at all the view points and found a nice quite unmarked one where we had lunch on a rock overlooking Lago P. Moreno Oeste which is a beautiful spot. The ride surprisingly only took us 4hrs and by 2.30 we were back at the shop tired and looking forward to the bus ride back at 2.40. We rode the bus back to the bus station to book our ticket to Puerto Valdas in Chile for Friday and then caught another bus back to the hostel for a well deserved rest.

16th Dec,

Up early again for our tour to the 7 lakes and San Martin de los Andes, so after a quick breakfast we boarded the Spanish speaking tour bus (it was 36 pounds cheaper than the bilingual tour) and we´re soon heading out of town to Villa La Angostura. We spent 15mins having a look round and making use of the facilities and then headed off to the first lake Lago Espejo followed by, Lago´s Correntoso, Escondido, Villariono (which we didn´t stop at) Falkner, Machonico and finally Lacar which leads right up to San Martin de los Andes where we stopped for 2hrs for lunch. After lunch we had a wander around town and into a few chocolate shops with the intention of smelling only but one shop was so lovely and kept giving us tasters that we caved in and bought some! We returned back to the minibus with precious goods in hand for the long journey back to Bariloche.  After a short stop at Confluencia, where we had pointed out to us figures in the rock formations, such as an elephant, castle and whale.  We returned back to Bariloche at 7.30pm to pick up some groceries for dinner and then chilled for the evening before retiring to bed.

17th Dec

After a lie in, we had breakfast, popped to the ATM and then paid our bill.  Finished packing our bags and then chilled at the hostel until lunchtime and then left to catch our bus to Chile.
