10th Nov.

Woke up around 8am and had breakfast of cheese & ham toasties, tea and fruit. Andre had a few errands to do so we went with him and Ana for the ride and an intro to Sorocaba. We went back at lunchtime where Ana prepared us spag bol, then she had to go to work whilst Andre went to the doctors with his bad knee. We stayed at the flat and did some washing, and then relaxed. Later in the evening we went down to the pastelaria for something to eat and to meet up with Abreu, his wife Danielle and thier daughter Marie. When we got back we watched the Disneyīs Princess and the Frog and got to bed around 12.30.

11th Nov.

Got up early, had breakfast and then went to a tattooist to watch Ana get a tattoo on her shoulder blade. She had her daughters name and a picture of a cartoon girl surrounded by stars. We then headed back for some lunch which was spicy chicken and beef with onions, rice and salad. Andre had work in the afternoon and Ana went home to see her daughter so we had the place to ourselves. We decided to take Nega for a walk, or rather Nega took us for a walk, 40kg of pure rottweiller muscle (thatīs two thirds of my weight!). We were out for around an hour and walked down to the river and back, every dog we past barked at her but she didnīt give then a second glance and was as good as gold. When we got back we showered and settled down to the movie The Crow, Branden Leeīs last movie. Afterwards we walk round to Andreīs Pastelaria for some pizza for dinner. We waited until Andre shut shop and he then drove us back to his flat where we watched the movie Crash with Sandra Bullock and Matt Dillon, then got to bed around 1.30am.

12th Nov.

A quick look out of the window confirms a pretty misrible looking day so we took our time getting up and spent the day lazing around watching TV. Ana made Noche for lunch which was very nice and as it brightened up in the afternoon we took the dog for a walk whilst Andre and Ana slept. We decided to eat in this evening as we werenīt very hungry and had an egg toastie, then watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

13th Nov.

Got up about 9am with a plan to go to the Zoo, so we had breakfast and then drove to Anaīs mumīs house to collect her daughter Maria then headed to the shop to buy groceries for dinner. On the way to the Zoo, the clutch went on Andreīs car, he asked a friend around the corner who adjusted it as much as he could but it wasnīt good enough to drive far. So we limped round a few more and found a garage that could fix it. As it would take 4 hours to fix, Andre stayed with the car and we caught 3 buses back to his flat. It was soon lunchtime and while we entertained Maria with the film Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, (this time in Portuguese) Ana prepared some lunch.  We walked Nega in the afternoon, while Ana went to work and Andre slept.

14th Nov

Big day today! After some breakfast I helped Andre carry an industrial pizza oven up stairs into the kitchen so that we can cook roast beef and all the trimmings for Andre, Ana, Maria, Abreu, Danelle & Maria.  Almost every thing went to plan except the Yorkshire puddings, as we didn't  have any pudding baking tins we had to make do with a round one so it ended up like a flat pizza.  Everyone seemed to enjoy it though (although Ana missed her rice!) and I think the favourite was the roast potatoes! Abreu's wife brought a pineapple and coconut cream cake for dessert which finished the meal off lovely.  Suitably stuffed we spent the afternoon watching DVD's then had a light tea and off early to bed as we had a 6.45am start tomorrow morning.

15th Nov

Early start this morning as we had made arrangements to meet Abreu at the bus terminal at 7.30am to head into Sao Paulo.  An 1hr 20m bus journey (& R$32) later we were in the city and catching the metro to the Municipal Market.  As it was a bank holiday, Abreu commented that it was quite quiet (I'd hate to think what it was like on a normal day as to us it looked pretty busy!). The market is in a beautiful building with stained glass windows of farmers sowing their crops and so many stalls with all sorts of fruit, vegetables, lotions and potions. We then walked to the Municipal Theatre and cathedral, which were both impressive and then had coffee and tea in the oldest coffee shop in Sao Paulo before catching the metro to the Japonese district, Liberdade. The Japonese garden was closed but yo9u got quite strong Japonese vibe from the streets.  Next stop on the metro was Avenida Paulista where there is a beautiful park opposite a very modern looking museum.  We had some lunch in a local lanchanet. I had calabresa sausage and Cat had steak and cheese sandwiches.  On our way back to the metro via some more impressive buildings, we saw a student protest over, we think the government canceling some exams.  Then we returned to Sorocaba for panquetes at Andre's pastelaria and then to bed.

16th Nov.

Had a nice lie after along day in the city yesterday. After breakfast Andre drove us to Ana's to collect her and Maria and off to the zoo we went (again!).  Although small, we saw anteaters, hippos and elephants among other animals. In the afternoon we stopped off at a food stall and had the best chocolate waffles on a stick.  It's great hanging out with a local as they know the best places to eat!  We then dropped off Maria and then Ana had to go to work. We then went to collect Andre's children (Sophia and Arthur) from school and took them to a shopping mall to visit Papa Noel (Santa Claus) and have fun in a children's arcade. After some dinner at Andre's he drove his children home and us to the bus station to catch our bus to Foz do Iguacu.  At 9pm we settled in on the bus and tried to get some sleep.
