The town is heavily guarded. There was violence in the 90s. It's the only temple we've been to where a guard with a semi-automatic machine gun followed us around. He tried to stay in the background but the Uzzi-like weapon was just too hard to ignore.
A 3-hour drive back to Luxor, and more electronic games, at least for the small fry.
