And so after a month in the countryside we arrive in Lima, Peru´s capital city.
After the initial excitement wears off (look Starbucks! KFC! Burgerking! etc) we find a lovely little hostel in the Miraflores area of the city. We take a stroll down to the beach area but the fog that covers the city limits our view, still its relaxed and Cath gets her first frappucino for whats been way too long.
Unfortunately we have to spend the rest of the afternoon changing airline tickets and the other mundane stuff of life, washing, haircuts, future bookings and the like. A tasty meal over looking the sea below rounds off the day.
Dawn and into the city for some sightseeing, the main plazas, buildings and roads. Highlight has to be the catacombs below the Iglasia San Francisco - over 70000 bodies down in the tunnels.
After a quick movie its off to the airport and Mexico in the morning. Its carnage at the airport, Cath can´t take any creams onto the plane so its a quick repack in the departure hall before we check in. Thankfully as customs will be too busy looking for contact lense solutions they´ll probably miss the 12 kilos of cocaine in my bag!
So that was our dip into south America and one big question is left to be answered...
When did Phil Collins become such a global phenomenon?
