We had a free day in Coober Pedy. Coober Pedy is a town that reaches 60 degrees Celcius in the summer (140 degrees F). Since the temps get so high the people who live in the town built houses, churches, and stores underground! No matter how hot it is outside, the temp undergound stays at 20 degrees Celcius. We toured an underground house and church, and we walked through an opal mine (the main export of Coober Pedy. 75% of the world's opal comes from this tiny town).
We had about 5 hours for free so we found phones and internet to keep in touch with the rest of civilization! Hahah- I got ot talk to Mom, Dad, and Amey!! Yay! There were SO many aboriginals living in town. It was unreal!
