Third Wednesday
So today was an interesting day. I didn't do that much this morning, but really was just kinda lump around and eat food. Lol. I finished writing on my post cards, and just kinda hung out. I spent some time with my roommate today ,showing her pictures of me and my friends back home which was a lot of fun. Then we decided to go to the internet café across the field which is just a bit of a walk from here. I took my lap top and was able to plug it in to a cord there. Turns out I don't need wireless everywhere, some places just have a cord. But I also went to this building on campus today to check it out. It is just a huge building full of computers, and so me and a couple girls went in there to figure it out, and ask a couple questions. Turns out they have wireless, and they never turn it off like the IP building does. So I can go there on the weekends to make my phone calls through my computer. Which is AWESOME! I can just go sit outside of the building, and from the looks of it, it seems like that building is pretty high tech, so I think the internet might be a bit faster.
But after the internet café there was the foreign students welcome dinner. It was a lot of fun. There were a few international students that decided to perform for us. They sang, and played the guitar, 2 people actually played a violin duet which was beautiful. One girl had such a beautiful voice, somehow it just made me miss home. But I don't miss home, because it made me realize even more how beautiful this experience is but I guess it just made me wish I had home here with me. After these people performed they had different African dance groups perform for us, they had a man that sang for us, and then there was a band playing African music. It was a lot of fun. At the end everyone got up and was dancing with the dancers, then it just kinda turned into a dance party. That was tons of fun. I realized that no one dances good unless they love what they're doing. If they look confident and love dancing, then others want to dance like them. I was dancing with a Nigerian guy, and he was teaching me how to dance like him, and then he asked how to dance like me. I laughed, because I don't know what I'm doing, how I'm dancing, or why anyone would ever want to replicate it. Lol. So we just kept doing our own thing.
Oh also I decided that I'm going to drop my sociology of religion class, and I'm going to sign up for an African dance class. Because I love dance, and it's an "obruni" dance class, so I'll be with a bunch of my friends, doing something I love. I have to drop the sociology class because the dance class is at the same time. Tonight dancing, and hearing that music made me want to take dance again. Also on Wednesdays is the obruni drumming class, and I'm going to sign up for it. I'm really excited. So I'll be taking social psychology, obruni dance, twi, obruni drumming, regional geog of Africa, and psychology of personality.
Today was tons of fun. I'm really tired tho. I haven't gotten to talk to my family that much this past week, and we're going to Cape Coast this weekend, so I don't know when I'll have that opportunity. BUT REMEMBER, I LOVE GETTING ANY KIND OF MAIL, EVEN IF ITS JUST TO SAY HI, OR "I LOVE YOU" SO PLEASE DON'T HESITATE. Alright, that's all, it's bed time.
