Today was a chill out day. Apart from the beauty of the town, and the excellent accommodation, one of the things that make's a stay memorable is the people you meet. Villa de Leyva is full of wonderful friendly people or that’s what it seemed to us. We have met some really nice people in our hostel, on tours, restaurants’ or simply in the street. It doesn’t hurt so greet everyone you meet, or simply be polite and friendly. We were really enjoying out stay at Villa De Leyva, and the hostel here was fabulous, we could have stayed here for the rest of our time in Colombia. After a late breakfast we wandered into town mainly to get some wool because one of the other guests at our hostel had taught Jody and Niamh how to crochet.
We had our usual menu de dia options for a late lunch and stopped by one of the garden squares on the way back to our hostel. There was a small soccer pitch there, so Jody encouraged us to play some soccer, and so we did. It was a way to let off some energy and it was great fun. A couple of children stopped to watch with some interest and were almost enticed to join in.
In the evening we hung around the kitchen area of the hostel, which is basically outdoors with some nice country views. I sat catching up on diary work and we chatted with other guests as they arrived. Jody convinced one of our new friends to play a game called spotlight where his camping torch, headgear, was used by one person who then had to search for the others in the dark, ie hide and seek. We must have played it for ours before we dragged Jody and Niamh protesting to bed, one more game please!
