For an hour or two we sat on the beach, the cloudless sky allowing the sun to bake our skin. We were all now starting to look like we were on holiday with our skin changing to a salty light brown and unexposed parts of our body contrastingly white.
Christie reading a book, the children and swimming in the turquoise water that was lapping against the soft white sand of the shoreline. About 600 metres out I could see the white water from the waves breaking on the reef. Occasionally a boat or two would head out to area's just in front of the waves with half a dozen snorkelers on board, and there they would stay for an hour whilst they explored the reef. For a while I was tempted to join them as the thought of the brightly colored coral, and sea life teased me to join them. It was $25USD for an hour and a half and it was probably good value, times four is $100USD and that’s when it starts to hurt. In the end we settled for a lazy afternoon, we are lucky to have done a lot of reef snorkeling in Australia.
We retired to the restaurant for tacos, some nachos with guacamole, coffee and orange juice, and sat gazing out to the reefs while the children splashed into pool. If a Mexican waiter says to you muy picante, listen carefully, otherwise your tongue will be redder than the backs of the tourists lying on the beach who obviously didn’t put on their suncream today.
After two hours we were happy enough to head back to Playa. We loved the beach here at Puerto Morelo, only surpassed by the turtles at Akumal.
