We arrived at our camp site in Falmouth, in the southern part of cape cod as the light was drawing in and without a lantern or stove (or roll mat for armelle!) Becca and Armelle took to it v naturally tho and the tent was up in no time! We went for a stroll around the campsite then and naturally headed towards the lake which it sed on the internet was perfect for swimming! The actual first thing me and becca saw in it tho was a massive (well it looked kinda big) water snake just sticking its head our the water casually bout a metre away! Armelle wasnt phased tho and carried on rocking the jetty even tho it was spewing out rank algae water from either side - seriously cant get this girl away from nature!!

First nite in the tent was kinda scary - i saw a big spider and it was quite empty at the site so i think we all had some bad visions during the nite of all the shadows on the tent! We got over it tho after the first nite ended fine - except for armelle wiv her lack of roll mat and rock and root covered floor!

Cos the weather looked a bit off in the morn we headed off in the car to see some of cape cod and made as far as Chatham lighhouse on the east coast. The town is really pretty so we stopped for ice cream there then drove out to the sea which was absolutely amazing - it was one of those beaches that was really nice coloured sand and sea and not much else. Me and becca also saved the life of a stranded mollusc of some kind by putting it in a pool of water away from the massive sea birds randomly dotted about. We drove later to the opposite shore that faces the mainland which wasnt so nice and so finished up the day in k mart buying lots of supplies and armelle finally got a v comfy roll mat.

For our last day we decided to take the ferry to Martha's Vineyard, which is a small island off the southern coast of cape cod. On reading the tourist brochures on the ferry we realised it was the first JawsFest - celebrating the 30th anniversary of the release of Jaws, which was filmed on Martha's Vineyard! We managed to see some cool events during the day including a talk by the author of the novel which became the film. For the main part of the day we hopped between the 3 main towns on the north side of the island which were all really pretty and very well kept - it seemed a lot nicer than cape cod which was spolied with fast food joints and tourist traps everywhere. The beaches werent so nice tho - we walked a long way to the beach at edgarville (i think?) only to find it covered wiv massive guls eating crabs all the way along the beach meaning u had to b careful not to step on the emptied out shells everywhere and it smelled really bad - as becca pointed out we couldnt really close our eyes cos of the fear a seagul would drop a crabs leg in our mouths or something!!

The main event of Jaws fest was an outdoor screeing of Jaws, and bonfire in vineyard haven, the ferry port. As a special treat a news item made at the time of filming showing a young steven speilberg talking bout martha's vineyard and a newly filmed interview wiv him saying thanks to the island for putting up wiv his film crews all that time ago were also shown! It was an awesome nite - it seems like the whole island turned up and there were a lot of die-hard fans around including this one guy that had the word jaws tattooed on his arm!! We had to leave part way through the film tho to get the last ferry back - and got a good nites sleep before our new york adventure!!
