The kids were really playing up today, just being really naughty and not listening. I hate having to shout, I don't think it achieves anything, but they were just in that Friday mood!! Least it was a short day, finished by lunchtime.
Michelle and I went to Kongowea, a massive market in town. We were told that among thousands of other things, they sell nice material which we can then take to another market (Ratna) to get it made into clothes. We wondered round for ages, it was nice to be emerged in such a big part of the local culture, but we did have 'muzungu' shouted at us constantly. One woman even asked us to buy her a passport so she could come and visit us.....!
We didn't find the material so went down to Ratna anyway. I was just going to get maybe one thing made.... I put in an order for a dress, a short skirt, a long skirt and bought a necklace. To buy the material and have this made was a drastic total of 2300 shillings - £19!!! Looking forward to picking them up next week.
We went to Petty Blues for dinner as it was Ben and Jamies last night. They are off travelling down to Zanzibar and will be back up on our last weekend here to collect some people and travel some more. They went off to a club – I went home!
