My last day didn't feel real, I don't know what leaving the country for 18 months is actually meant to feel like, never done it before! David, Mazz, Meg and Mum all came to the airport with me and being driven was such a relief, didn't fancy public transport with all that baggage. I checked my
bags in and was advised that I could have had twice the amount of stuff, not that I'd be able to take it all the way round the world!

We went for my final drink in the bar, I was made to have a random English ale or something, wasn't bad, but no Cab Sav. Mazz and Meg bought me a bracelet which has the co-ordinates of my home on it, so that where ever I am in the world, I am always close to home. About the sweetest thing I could have been given.

So far I've had been a little emotionless with saying goodbye to people, not that I don't care – the total opposite, however it has never felt real. Until I'm standing at the security gate that is. I was a bit of a blubbering mess, and suddenly felt very loved. Thank you once again for all coming to see me off, it meant the world.

The wait for the plane consisted of a beer, more tears (on my own) and a few phone calls from my girls which was lovely.

The plane was totally empty (well almost) and most people had 3 seat to themselves. The on board film was awful, some shit about bird watching (The Big Year).
