"Oh my GOD, I'm in NEW YORK" was pretty much my phrase of choice today, it was used A LOT.

We were up and out by about 8am, grabbed a Starbucks and a bagel from a street vender and headed downtown to the Financial District.  This was obviously after getting on the subway the wrong way.... I didn't really fancy heading into Queens...!

Today we saw; Wall Street, New York Stock Exchange, Federal Hall National Memorial, Staten Island Ferry, Statue of Libery and Ellis Island (from afar), Woolworth Building (favourite NYC building), City Hall and City Hall Park, New York City Police Headquarters, Municipal Building, New York City Supreme Court, Tom Selleck, walked across Brooklyn Bridge, ate Pizza in Grimaldis, Brooklyn Heights, whiled away a couple of hours in a bar in lower Manhattan that for the life of me I can't remember the name of, and topped it all off by watching the New York Rangers beat the Phoenix Kyotes in Ice Hockey at Madison Square Garden.... and breath.  What a day!

I loved every moment of it, even the pain in my feet was worth it!  The Woolworth building isn't really anything of signifcance (that we could work out), but it's stunning, and on a crisp sunny winters day it made me smile!  Staten Island Ferry is cool, and even better, it's free.  Brookyn Bridge is epic, totally worth the walk.  Pizza in Grimaldis is a NY must!  Make the trip, you won't be disapointed.  And I'm gonna chance saying that we were more excited and enthusiastic at the hockey than the locals.  Think they thought we were mad British people.

I left the hotel in the morning saying to Kathryn "I want to see a celeb today", and it only came true.  We were about to cross Brooklyn Bridge and Kathryn had a hankering for coffee, so we took a detour to find a Starbucks, which in all fairness shouldn't be too far away.  But our detour took us past the Municipal Building where they were filming a new drama which had Tom Selleck in, and he was there, looking all important and stuff.  Pretty cool!

After talking to a Lawyer (we weren't in trouble, I just struck up conversation with him) he told us there was a courthouse round the corner which you can go in watch a trial.  We went, we wondered, we chickened out, we left.  It only would have been a divorce or custody case anyway.  However we were amused by the security guard who upon hearing we were from England, said he had a family member living in London, we asked where to which he replied "Berlin...."  We polite said we hadn't heard of it, and waited until we were outside to burst into laughter.  Oh dear...!

Epic day and every moment I fell more and more in love with New York City.
