Flaming Arrow Campground

We spent three nights at the Flaming Arrow Campground in Cherokee NC.  They had unseasonably warm weather-a real blessing for us since our only transportation once the Winnie is hooked up at the campsite is our motorcycles.  Well, we arrived on Tuesday afternoon and it was pretty warm, but Wednesday was even warmer-in the 70's!  We took a long ride on the bikes (about 100 miles or so) through the mountains.  What a ride-the roads in the mountains were fun to drive, but the switchbacks were a bit nerve-wracking for me who hasn't clocked as many street miles as Bob.  He's been riding for 20 years or so and this is my first year.

The pictures are of a couple of waterfalls that were on the route.  The route actually had 4 different falls-the lower and upper Cullasaja falls, the dry falls, and the Bridal Veil falls.  The lower falls and the bridal falls were the nicest.   the pictures show Bob at the lower falls, and the two of us standing under the Bridal Veil Falls, which you can actually drive under.  I tried to convince Bob that standing under the falls was like standing under mistletoe, (hence the "bridal veil") but he wasn't convinced.

Well, the weather turned a bit.  Rain came on Wednesday night and we woke up Thursday to a grey day.  It started out about 55 degrees, but lost a couple degrees an hour and ended up below freezing Thursday night.  We spent a quiet Thanksgiving in the Winnie.

Today we packed up camp and are headed for Cleveland Georgia now to spend a few days with Bob's niece.

Good Morning
Love your pictures. Your campsite looks really pretty. What a view and what bright colored trees. I think the trees are turning later than this year than usual. They are around here. Nice that they waited for you. Mom

You Go, you two.
Hi Bob,
This is Doris from Meridian Heath, cash posting at the data center in Neptune. I will be looking forward to reading about your trip. I am so jealous. Wish I had the guts to do what you two are doing. Best of luck and many happy miles.
Doris
