Where I stayed
What is it with this magic figure of 5 ½ hours??? If you are a reader, you might remember that I had a 5 ½ hour trip from the airport in London to my hotel one night. That was the first time. Then I had another 5 ½ hour trip in a different country, different situation but timing the same. You might remember that one when I was stuck in the woods in the Ukraine and it took us 5 ½ hours to get the car fixed and get out of the woods and back to Kharkov. That was the one where I sat in a peasant hut with a poster of Stalin on the wall. An adventure for sure.
Today I move from Manila to Puerto Galera and was informed that the trip takes 5 ½ hours! Wowzer. I asked if there was a bathroom break and she smiled and said I could ask the bus driver. Whoa! I am hoping there are many women on the bus because I don't want to be the one to try and explain to a bus driver, who may not speak English that we need to stop at a rest stop, assuming they even have them.
Last time I made this trip, we were in a private transfer car and it only took about 1 ½ hours to go from Manila to the ferry and then maybe 45 minutes to cross the water, if I am remembering correctly. I know the timing for the car transfer is right but I can’t remember the water crossing time exactly. And our driver stopped for a toilet break and for snacks too. Somehow I don’t think I am going to get the snack and toilet break snack today. My friend who made the arrangements for me this time suggested I go by the public transport as it was cheaper. Cheaper isn’t always better. But cheaper is usually an experience so we shall see.
