Tired, tired, tired feet.  Touring today and according to the guide, we walked 5 kilometers in about 4 hours.  As we didn't seem to stand that long in any place and he was booking it, think it was actually much further.

Hubby got here safe and sound this morning from Nigeria! Yea. and he sort of slept on the plane so we went out touring. First went to the Hauptbahnhof (railway station) to make sure our tickets for our onward journey into Poland were in order and they were. Then I decided we could walk along the river and find a boat cruise or at least look at some museums and such. Unfortunately, my east, west, north, south internal compass seems to have gone bonkers and we were totally walking in the wrong direction. Hubby finally decided he'd had enough walking without seeing anything touristy so we went up to the street, asked the first passerby where we were on the map and found we were so lost! Luckily the Berlin TV tower is tall enough to see it over most buildings so we angled towards it and finally arrived back at the Hauptbahnhof. Had some lunch and then decided to join a tour that walked through some of the historical sights of Berlin.
Met the tour guide and tour close to the zoo and backtracked to close to our hotel to pick up more tour members then walked lickety split all over what was formerly East Berlin and got an earful of many tales of the two Berlins, the fall of the East, the WWI and WWII histories, other tales on things that were happening between politics and politicians and so forth and so on. The guide was good. he knew his stuff. he talked a mile a minute and we walked almost that fast it seemed. many times there was no opportunity to take a photo at all as we only had either a quick walkby or "that building over there is". It still was a good tour to get acquainted with some of the buildings and streets and such. We were very tired at the end.
So we took the fastest way back to our hotel, stopped at an Italian restaurant for dinner, had to buy another voucher for the internet for my computer because the hotel system has hijacked it and I cannot log onto any of the area wireless networks now except the hotel system (which is probably the most expensive wireless in the neighborhood) and now hubby has already hit the hay and is snoring away. What a glorious day!

OH, I will add tidbits of Berlin as I can. Now that I am touring with my husband, there is not near the same time to do blogs because he always wants to share the computer of an evening as well. So will add some of the stories our guide told us when I have time.
