So this blog is actually being created now I'm home from Egypt, but as I refused to pay for internet access at the hotel we were staying in, I had no other choice really!

The holiday was fab.  It was nice to get away, get some sun and forget about all the work and stress that's taken over my life in recent weeks.  Darrell and I spent most of the time in stitches, laughing at stupid jokes and comments made by each other, which is what made the holiday for me.  Apart from a minor freak out on my part (over a wardrobe disaster of all things!), we got along really well for the whole week, impressive for me considering people generally annoy me when I spend more than 48 hours with them!  I can't wait for our next hol together now (hello Prague!)

So while we were in Egypt, we stayed at the Sierra Savoy Hotel in Shark's Bay.  Overall, it was a nice hotel.  What let it down was the food (barely edible some nights) and the evening "entertainment".  I say "entertainment" as listening to a cat drowning probably would have been more pleasant on the ear than the female singer they had each night...

Most days were filled with sun bathing, taking advantage of the free pool bar and gorging ourselves on the free pizza (mmmm pizza!).  I'm now feeling the need to invest in a pizza oven for my house so I can continue the pizza indulgence on a daily basis when I return from Africa!  We also went snorkelling off the beach a few times.  I have to admit to being a wimp and the first attempt ended up with Darrell taking my camera with me wimpering on the side of the jetty too scared to go in, but once I was in, I loved it!

A few particular highlights - on Wednesday, we both went out on a dive boat.  I'm not a diver (tried it once and didn't get along with it, I'm much happier on the surface where there's air!) but Darrell went out and did his thing, while I pootled around just off the boat.  I had been warned about the glass bottomed boats that went up and down the reef, so was quite paranoid about being run over!  The fish were amazing, but it was really cold so I was only in the water for about 15 minutes before coming back on to the boat to warm up.  I spent the rest of the time on the boat sunbathing and giving thumbs up signs to the very friendly but non-English speaking boat captain!

On Saturday night, we headed back into Naama Bay and went to a couple of bars, before going to Pacha.  I impressed Darrell with my dancing skills to cheesy pop ("Sweet Home Alabama" AND Jackson Five?!!!  It was my lucky night!) while he showed off his skills in Pacha.  It was a wicked night, I always love dancing!!

We landed at 4:30 am this morning (ugghhhh) and so I'm feeling a little bit groggy right now.  My mum has already told me that I'm barely tanned, which is never a great thing to hear when you come back from a beach holiday, but I guess it's better than being a lobster.

I'm now off to pack for Africa, leaving tomorrow!!!
