And we made it, the end of a journey that began six weeks ago as we packed up Air House, and now we finally arrive at Basing Cottage. It has been pretty epic.

For anyone still reading this, thank you for following and I hope the list of geysers visited and fish tacos eaten hasn't been too interminably dull. This started as a way of letting people know where we were, but it has turned into a family memory bank of a wonderful trip...

Having such a long period of family time has been really special and we feel incredibly lucky to have been able to do it. It has been wonderful for the children and for me to have Matt back after three such intense years working on Somalia, and fingers crossed we get to see a little more of him in his next job working on Central and Southern Africa!

We certainly all feel refreshed, readjusted and ready for the next challenge. Certainly after the RV, Basing Cottage is going to feel massive, although whatever car we buy is going to feel rather small after a 28ft truck!

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us, but particularly to my wonderful parents who collected us from Heathrow today and also to my awesome sister Liz (and her equally awesome family), who have gone to the house, taken over the keys, received our UAF and storage items and even filled the fridge. You are amazing, and we love you masses.

Finally to three pretty fabulous children. This trip is something that Matt and I have been wanting to do for years, but at 7, 5 and 3, the children didn't really have much idea what it would be all about, and didn't have a great deal of choice!

We have left the only country they really remember, left their school, left their friends behind, all their possessions are somewhere in the sky, and we are currently pretty rootless. Each time someone asked where we were from, they hesitated for a bit, not entirely sure how to answer...

Yet they have not stopped smiling, they have embraced it all, grabbed every new opportunity, gazed at new sights with wonder and amazement and loved every second, even when we have dragged them up yet another hill As long as they are with us, and with each other, they are happy and their comfort zone seems to be fairly limitless!

Em, Arch and Mima...our three little adventurers, you are amazing and you make us very, very proud! Welcome home...

Nix on

I'm now in tears! What a lovely tribute to your children. Clearly you and Matt are doing an awful lot right - you should write a handbook on parenting!
Can't wait to see you all again.
Xx
