AUCKLAND

The next day was spent sorting out our clothes and bits for our onward travels.

But there was time for Sue to take us all to join Julia her daughter, and three children of a Burmese refugee family, Julia has befriended. The family does not now have a father and the eldest two children spent their early years in a refugee camp. Julia, who is lovely caring young woman, was introduced to the family while studying and has kept in contact with them ever since. She is helping them settle into the New Zealand way of life, helping them with schooling issues and smoothing out the difficulties a refugee family face. Sue and Geoff are also very much involved. The children Kyah Mat (girl) aged, 13, Tee Noe (boy) aged 12 and Lwee Zar (girl) aged 8 are delightful, they now all speak English and their mother has passed her driving test.

Carol and I would like to say how much we have enjoyed our stay in New Zealand.

Sue and Geoff made us so welcome and were extremely generous with their hospitality.

We all got on so well and thoroughly enjoyed the holiday travelling the south island with them.

Thank you Sue and Geoff
