...So as promised to ourselves we got up ridiculously early to go and catch the "perfect" sunrise over the 12 Apostles. We got up, got dressed and stepped outside - into the pouring rain and the gloomiest day since arriving in Australia! We decided to take a drive out anyway and the view was still stunning in an "i'm tired, wet and would love a cup of tea" way so we took some snaps (including one of me looking like a member of the taliban with my head scarf on) before running back to the warmth of the car. we braved it out though and made some brief stops at Loch Ard Gorge and Mutton Island.

We then started on what was to become a very long and uninspiring drive up to the Grampian Mountains via lots and lots of farmland. Once arriving in Halls Gapat 1pm we discover our hostel operates on a part-time basis and doesn't open until 5pm - handy! So we are kept out in the rain and decide that when all else fails it's time for a crisp sandwich in the car, nutritious and tasty in one! We did visit the Baroka lookout and the cloud cover over the entire area was very inspiring. Thankfully the cloud did lift to allow us a good view of McKenzie Falls. We also got to see thousands of cockatoos flying around town and plenty more kangaroos at dusk.
