First stop on the GOC was Torquay, the town where the big surf names like Billabong and Quicksilver started out and we both treated ourselves to some new much needed clothing. Next was a stop at Surf Beach where we spotted our first shark!! It was a thresher shark just off the coast and swimming close to a couple of surfers but no surfboards bitten in half or limbs lost.

Also stopped off at Bells Beach to admire the huge waves and the skills of the surfers! This area is also where the end of Point Break was filmed which I thought kinda cool.

Next was a quick stop at Aireys beach to visit Split Point lighthouse where "Round the Twist" was filmed - a childrens tv programme from our younger days, and for some devonshire tea and scones, yum - although the aussies don't seem to have heard of clotted cream which is very disappointing!

The scenery along the Great Ocean Road is absolutely breathtaking and we also spotted more dolphins when we stopped to change drivers.

Also spotted some more wild koalas, including "lockjaw" koala who looked like he had had a nasty run in with a tyre at some point in his lazy life. He was chilling in a tree just right above the main road so we stopped to have a look which meant every car driving past felt the need to stop also and check out what was so interesting, therefore almost causing several crashes, whoops!

As the day wore on we headed to Otway lighthouse for a look to find it was shut but we did see another koala sitting in the middle of the road! We got out to have a look and take some snaps while some strange woman threw a plum at it. Anyway, this detour meant we missed what we later heard was " the most beautiful perfect sunset over the 12 apostles", second whoops!! Promises made to get up very very early to catch the sunrise...
