The beaches in and around Sydney certainly live up to their repuatations!!
The coastline is absolutely stunning and the water a beautiful clean blue
and huge waves to try and swim with (or get dumped by!). While in Sydney
we have been to Palm Beach (Home and Away!), Dee Why, Manly and Bondi and
they are all stunning. Bondi wasn't nearly as "brits on tour" as I
expected it to be. Manly is very "look at me, look at me" after 5pm when
all the suits get home from work and strip down to shorts and take the dogs
for a walk, on roller blades (like a tampax advert!) along the promenade.
It is a stunning beach with some fantastic waves. The day our flatmates
went there was a shark alert and everyone had to get out the water! Very
annoyed to have missed it but maybe next time. In fact, we have heard a
lot of shark tales while we've been here and there does seem to be a lot
around. Apparently just off Bronte beach (i think it's there) is a shark
feeding ground so every morning and evening there are a load of sharks in
the water. And of course, that is the beach one of our mates decided to go
skinny dipping in after a night out. Thankfully he is still all in one
piece!
The great thing is that the beaches in Sydney has provided us with just a
taster of what is to come throughout our trip around Australia...
