After we left Milwaukee we headed to Minnesota - our train was due in at 11pm and we had an hour to get to the Hostel, cause after 12 there's no check in, so it was a bit of a panic considering we hadn't a clue how to get there!!

Anyway we arrived at the hostel at 12.05 so got in on time, didn't fancy spending the nite on the street as it was freezing!!

Stayed in a hostel which was straight across the road from the Institute of Art Museum, not being into this sort of thing i reluctantly went for a visit.... and i can honestly say it was the coolest museum ever - it had loads of stuff on the American Indians and loads of pre war family stuff as well as more modern art, it was so good think we ended up spending a few hours here!

(Joe) Our reason for goin to minn. was of course to try to meet with the McGinty family who I spent two summers with about 18 years ago as part of the Childrens Program of N.I. After some research at home I found that they had moved to Maple Grove in Minneapolis but that was the only info I could find. Anyhow, we went up there hoping to find them and did so buy simply calling enquiries on the train to Minnesota, with the help of the Amtrak conducter and some random dude who gave us his phone to use!!

I tried to call then but we forgot that people here rarely answer there home phones for fear of being greeted with the most tenacious telesales man in Indian!! We did leave a message the next day and Paul (Mc Ginty) called us back and we arranged to meet for dinner that evening at the hard rock cafe!! So that we did with Paul, Sue and Stacey, unfortunately Justin and Kate could not make it, though im sure we'll see them both as soon as is possible!! It was great to see them again after so long and we really enjoyed the limited time we had!!

(Hi guys hope your happy with the photo as the whole of ireland will now be glaring at it, we had a great night and with a bit of luck we'll meet somewhere on the globe sometime soon!!!!)

p.s. thanks again for dinner, our shout next time!!!!!

After we left the Hard Rock, Joe and I went across the road to an Irish pub were there was live music, Joe even got up on stage to sing a song - which of course the crowd loved!!

It was good craic and after a bit of banter with the locals we headed back to our hostel.

On the Sat we dandered around some of the delicatessens......oh my word, the stuff some folk eat is beyond me! We went in hoping to buy chicken but after seeing what was sitting beside the chicken we left thinking we'd have the vegetarian option, lets just say if the stuff had started to move i wouldn't have been surprised!!! :)

On the Sunday morning we left first thing to get the train back to Chicago.
