Arrived in Hong Kong with amazing ease although finding the hostel was a little more tricky. However we found it, and what a great find! Located in Mongkok it is in the centre of the madness and is so reasonable! We are hoping we can stay here for the full four days but we will have to see..
Today we ventured out to Hong Kong island where we visited Man Mo temple. There were incence sticks burning from floor to ceiling which are used as prayers, the smokey effect was quite over powering. We both had our fortunes read there as well. Apparently I am going to have a good year next year with my career and a promotion in 2007!! That was very good news, although not sure this man was capable of giving me bad news. Anyway we ended the evening on the peak by going up the tram. From here there were spectacular views of Hong Kong.
Our best purchase so far has been our umbrellas! It may be a surprise to you but during the rainy season it seems to rain a lot.. Anyway we are not letting the rain dampen our spirits (ha ha) In fact it is a new skill to battle with all the other thousands of umbrellas on the street!
As yet I have not been taken with the cuisine this may have something to do with my visit to the live fish market yesterday where they had bags of live toads crammed together and seemed to be butchering them while a live as well as seeing whole pigs hanging in the streets. Pig offal soup or maybe stomach anyone?
Lamma island tomorrow...
Ill keep you all posted, I have a new flash camera now so watch this space for some photos!

Hong Kong
Hey! Glad you seem to be enjoying Hong Kong and that the hostel is in a good location! Food wise... maybe you should opt for noodles... or having dim sum? However if i remember correctly at your 21st birthday party you had a whole roast pig in your back garden... so really a couple of pigs hanging in the street is nothing in comparison! Heehee... Mum says Stanley Market in Stanley is a good place to go for bargains! Hope the rains lets up soon! Have a fab time!
