It is 3.00am and I have just sat down in the departures long at Stansted airport.
So manta people trying to sleep. How do I feel? Tired, excited and fantastic for some strange reason. What co-incidences await me today> I know I could do with some sleep! Here goes nothing!
It's 6.30am and I am sat at Gate 2 rather tired and sleep deprived. I will attempt to snooze on the plane but I am not confident. It is like a sauna in here. I am in five alters anticipating the cold but it's just so hot here. Frazzled but optimistic. Oh and very apprehensive!
Well I have just woken up so I must have had some sleep! About two hours. I am looking out of the window. The sun is low and bright. The view is magnificent. I can feel the sun's warmth against my face. I feel rested. Not that rested though!
OK, I am sitting down having just ate my lunch. I have not sent an email to people telling them I am off to St. Petersburg. However, when I arrived at the bus station, I realised that it was impossible as the visa would take a few days.
OK. Plan B. I bought a ticket to Vilnius on an overnight bus.
I left my bad at the left luggage and headed off into the old city. It has been snowing slightly since I arrived but I am surprised that I am not more cold.
Mind I can see why people drink vodka around here! Eating was such a relief. As I write this I feel recharged and ready to go… o and find a hostel for when I return. The old city looks really impressive but I will get a chance on my way back to see it
In the meantime, I need to figure out where I am going to stay in Vilnius. Eee so much to do! After finding the Hostel and Passenger Terminal A (and nearly freezing to death) I decided to relax in the more heated indoors.
Two notable events dung the day were firstly meeting the angry and quite threatening Guyana or however you say it! Oh bless him!
Secondly, and certainly more notably, I met Herman. What a guy. I found him t o be full of energy and really kind. I will contact him the next time I am on the internet. He even alkyd me to the bus station. What a gentleman. I'm eating Sheila's apple for supper. I love Sheila mind.
