Chasing Waterfalls – Chishimba Falls

Chishimba, the first of the simply breathtaking water falls in Northern Zambia. Carlos was set on paying the water falls in Zambia a visit. Speaking to people along the way did not help as no one seemed to think much of it or had not been to visit any of the falls.  After seeing Chishimba Falls our excitement grew and we were very pleased with the fact that the lack of interest and enthusiasm  along the way did not deter us from making the effort.

As you can see from the photo's, it is a well organized site with clean facilities (no showers though) and spectacular falls.  The falls lie in the  Luombe River. The first or three,  just after a dam and the other two further down the river.  The middle one being the smallest and the last one the biggest.  We could hardly believe our eyes.  Keep in mind that our visit to the falls is at the end of the dry season and thus what we have seen (and loved) is not even close to what these falls look like during the rainy season.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, even arranging the IT chap from the Internet Café to come help us with the loading of data time to enable us to use the Internet. They arranged for a night watchmen to look after us especially too.  Very keen to impress and to get the word about the falls out.

We decided there and then that the song with the words "don’t go chasing water falls" would definitely not apply to us! On the contrary, that is exactly what we will be doing for a while.
