With the trailer's hitch sorted out, it was time to hit the road again. Nampula is the next stop.  The road is good and the countryside is beautiful, a real nice drive.

We arrive at  Complexo Montes Nairucu, 20 km outside Nampula, late afternoon.  The campsite is nice and the gardens are full of flowers.  Only problem is, a graduation party is taking place on the camp grounds tonight.  We did not feel like setting up camp in plain view of the party goers and definitely did not feel like the loud music that goes along with this kind of party.  Besides, we were starving, or should I say, I was starving. (Carlos does not have a hunger button). We would go eat at the Portuguese restaurant a little way away but still on site.

The food tasted even better than the smell that lured us there.  After dinner the owner came to join us for a while.  He was apologetic about the noise that showed no sign of ending.  Originally from Madeira, he came to Mozambique in 1960 or something.  He fought in the war for the Portuguese army. He could not return and thus had to make a life here for himself.  His wife is also from Madeira.  They have a 500 hectared farm of which the restaurant and campsite forms a part.

Virginia, a little 4 year old joined us. When we asked if this was his grandchild, he remarked casually, "A mistake. Africa, what can I say?"  His daughter gives him much joy, this is clear from looking at his face when she entertained us.  “ Aaahh Mozambique!” he says. When it was Virginia's bed time, we made our way to the camp ground.  Set up camp, got into bed, and fell asleep regardless.
