After the Castle, our destination was Sesriem. Sesriem has two main attractions, namely Sossusvlei (with its orange dunes) and the Sesriem Canyon. It is a short journey of about 150 K's from Duwisib Castle.
The scenery continues with its yellow grass plains and mountains. Orange dunes commence to show up every now and then. There is an abundance of game in places. In fact, there was a springbok running in the road at some stage. It kept runing in front of the car for quite a few k's. We eventually slack down to give him a gap, which he took, but not after jumping the fence and getting caught in it for a while. Fortunately it was not too badly hurt. It came right and left.
The main event of the day was a tyre "blow-up". By the time I realised that there was something wrong, there was no tyre left. This happened just a few K's before Sesriem, so we still made it in good time to set up camp. The sunset awaiting us was something to remember.
So tomorrow we will be visiting the Sossusvlei dunes at sunrise and later the Sesriem Canyon.
