Here it is - the last entry of our blog!! We are writing this on a plane heading back to DC from Seattle. We'll continue where we left off:
On the last day of our road trip - we made one stop at our old place in Southern Pines, NC. We hadn’t been back in years and we ate at our favorite lunch place Sweet Basil - for anyone who goes - the hot Vegetarian sandwich is a must! We hit DC at 5:00pm - and were welcomed back to our city with good ol’ DC traffic! We didn’t mind, too much, because it gave us a chance to take it all in and see if there was anything different. Not too many changes - only a lot of street construction. We arrived to our house with Mom and Heywood on the porch - it was a great homecoming. The next day, as we started our long list of errands - reality hit us, literally. After over a year away from home including a 5400 mile roadtrip - we got into an accident! A truck ran the red light and hit us. Fortunately no one was hurt but the front of the Subaru was smashed and so we had to have it towed to a repair shop and get a rental for the next couple of weeks!! But hey given what could have happened - we were lucky.
A lot of people have asked us, so how does it feel to be back? To be honest, although it’s been a month since we’ve been back in the US (we arrived in Seattle early morning 2 July) - it hasn’t felt like we’ve been really back. We’ve basically been on the move for the past month: a 2 ½ week road trip, a brief check in to our house, and then a trip back to Port Ludlow, Washington (near the town of Forks for you Twilight fans) for Maggie and Hawk’s wonderful wedding. Now we are ready to settle down and get back to `’normal" life (although what does that really mean? ).
Thank you everyone for reading and sharing your comments - it made writing the blog fun! As promised here is a list of our "Greatest Hits!" Until the next adventure…
