Today after church, we went to the zoo, which is beside the Night Safari
. On Friday I got to hold a snake which I've always wanted to do and today, I got to ride an elephant, which I tried in vain to do in Sri Lanka, but failed. Another 2 things to tick off my imaginary "To Do" list. There was also a brilliant elephant show that we watched. During the show, there were rumbles of thunder and the heavens opened as we were leaving, resulting in us getting soaked to the bone. It was quite refreshing to start with after it being so hot and sticky, however those feelings didn't last long!
So we're flying to Oz tomorrow night and then onto New Zealand on the 7th December. The "Neighbours" tour is already booked, so it'll be sleepless nights waiting for that!
Saturday morning was spent the way all Saturday morning should be spent-lazing by the pool. It's a hard life but someone's got to do it and it might as well be us. In the afternoon we checked out what Singapore had to offer us, the humble tourists. After visiting a few shops, we went to see the famous Raffles Hotel. It was quite surreal seeing it decorated for Christmas when you're in shorts and t-shirt. As it was where the "Singapore Sling" cocktail was invented, we had to sample one! It was then onto a River cruise that took you on a tour of the city. Then at night we went on night safari. Unfortunately you weren't allowed to take photos as the flash would scare the animals. We went round on a tram which bought you up close and personal to the animal's nocturnal habits. There were lions, giraffe, deer, elephants and many more. We also went to see the "Creatures of the Night" show, which showcased owls, otters, snakes and some more animals.
