And so the second half of my 2007 travel adventure begins. Where better to start them than in Singapore. First impressions of Singapore are that he is a very clean city with no litter and also their customer service is fantastic, whether you're in a shop or in a taxi. It's a very beautiful city. Also they have the most amazing way off keeping the place mosquito free-the place is literally fumigated every week. Now there's an idea to introduce to Sri Lanka.

After a very long journey, which was made slightly better by the fact that there were great films shown on the plane, we were greeted in Singapore by rain! As you'd expect, we weren't very impressed but then we did intend to go straight to bed so came to the conclusion that it was, but only for that 1 day!! We are staying in Lynz friend's apartment so as soon as we got in (on Wednesday morning) we went to bed until mid afternoon, and went out for dinner at night. Our sleeping patterns are still a little up the left as we keep waking up about 3/4am but hopefully they will soon settle.

On Thursday we did what we do best - went shopping. We could have been walking the streets of Belfast as there was Topshop, Marks and Spencer, Warehouse etc. However that's where the association ended! Then we had a dip in the apartment's pool before dinner.

Today we had intended to visit the zoo but plans changed and we ended up spending the day t a neighbouring Island called Santosa. We are going on a night time safari tomorrow night anyway so will see plenty of animals there. You reach it by taking a cable car from the 15th floor of a building onto the island. It's definitely a tourist attraction and big enough to spend a whole day at. After going to the Aquarium, where there were lots fish, and Butterfly enclosure, we went on the sky tower which gives you a panoramic view of Singapore, which was quite cool. There was also a Dolphin show, where dolphins did the typical things like jumping through hoops and balancing balls on their noses. Today was also the day I fulfilled one of my ambitions-to hold a python! It was so good-they are quit heavy and just feel like a big sausage!

I've been in Singapore 3 days and have already technically broken their law on a number of occasions, each time of course it was unintentional. First thing was I have brought several packets of chewing gum with me and apparently they don't like you bringing it in I'm glad they didn't find it. Secondly when using the bus, you have a swipe card which you put credit on. You swipe it when you get on and then when you get off so they know how much o deduct for the fare. I didn't know that and so only swiped while getting on. As I didn't want to get arrested, we got a taxi home as we didn't know what would happen the next time we used the card. All they do is deduct the amount of the entire journey as if you'd gone to the last top, not imprisonment which is good to know! Finally today in the taxi, I couldn't figure out how to put my seatbelt on, so I just held it around me. It was only when exiting the taxi, I saw the sign "Belt up or be fined $1200".So you could say there is a strong chance that I may need bailed out of jail at some point-please start saving!

We are here until Monday night, then we fly to Melbourne and then onto New Zealand on 9December. Should be visiting a few Internet cafes in Oz so I'll be in touch!
