Yesterday we decided to go and explore Hambantota. We walked up the hill by the harbour to see the lighthouse. There also used to be a fishery museum there, but as you can see from the photo, it no longer exists as the statues are lying broken on the ground. It was nice to see it as it is a part of Hambantota that I've never seen before. We then took a leisurely stroll around the rest of the town-I think we have now discovered every nook and cranny of Hambantota!

Victor and family were meant to visit last night but never arrived. It turns out a tree fell onto their roof during the rain in the afternoon so they spent the evening repairing it. It was some of the heaviest rain I've seen since I've been here!

Also last night, the electric went off for about 20minutes. It has never gone off at night for that long and of course it was at the most inconvenient time when I was in the shower! Anyway I was able to clamber around and find my torch. Mark decided he would open the door to see what the area was like with no lights. On doing this he let out the loudest, high pitched, girly shriek and slammed the door closed, fumbling with all his might to lock the door securely, only to drop the keys. So what was it that made him scream so loudly and send him into a state of panic? Yes that's right, a dog was standing on the doorstep! And we all know a) how scary dogs are and b) how the door has to be not only closed, but locked, to keep them out of the house as it is a well known fact they can open a door using a handle!

This morning at Sunday School, I was helping Anita (Victor's wife) with the youngest children (there were only 3 of them). They spent their time drawing a picture. After that it was off to the Oasis for lunch.
