After a morning of trying to find guitar strings, we headed to the beach this afternoon. Like the true wannabe Sri Lankan's that we are, we bought with us a cricket bat and ball for entertainment. I fear the cheering and clapping that came from a group of locals were more mocking than encouraging. We thought we were going to have to walk the 5km back from the beach as are 3wheeler guy had his phone turned off. We decided to start walking and eventually after about 10minutes and 6 full 3wheelers later, one came to rescue us.

After arriving back covered in half the sand of the entire beach, a 3wheeler pulled up with Naynai, Milani and 2 others from the church. They had come to borrow things from the school for the holiday club over the weekend. Again we had a surreal 30minute discussion about the design of the name badges that Mark and I have been designated to make. Such questions arose like should we have a picture of Jesus in the middle or a sticker? Was it to be in the shape of a circle or triangle?  It would be worth being a fly on the wall for these conversations as they are hilarious! So it was eventually decided the badges would be in the shape of "pigeons" (which means dove) with the ribbon round its neck - plain and simple!

Tomorrow we are heading to Galle, which is an old town with a fort. Also stopping at a turtle hatchery and taking a ride (well I suppose a sail) on a glass bottomed boat.
