Today I was amused by one of the questions Melanii (a teacher) asked me...."do you have servants in England?" The thing is, it was a genuine question so I explained indeed we didn't.

Today the older preschoolers started to learn how to write the English alphabet. Yes you guess it, today's letter was "A". It amazes me that children as young as 3 know 2 languages. I'm 24 and can barely speak English!! I'm teaching them next Monday...I think I'll try "B"! We also did the "Hokey Pokey". As it's all actions it's easy for them to pick up and they seemed to enjoy it. At times I don't know who enjoys it more - the kids or myself and the teachers!

There were a lot of afterschoolers in my class today. I found out afterwards it was actually 2 classes together which explains a lot! It was their turn to learn about animals. How ironic that while I was teaching, monkeys were swinging from the trees onto the roof. Again it's a common sight as is the odd stray cow walking past you on the road. On the drive home from Colombo, there was an elephant in the middle of the road. Apparently they come out at night and wonder about and cause road accidents. These are the sorts of things that remind me that I'm not in Carrick, if I ever forget!

Right time to do some washing.....the fun never ends! Also the other exciting news is I have a jelly setting in the fridge-roll on tomorrow night when it'll be ready!
