Today the preschool was introduced to "musical statues", with a slight twist. Because they kept wanting to play it again (and we don't want them to get bored of it just yet), they danced, then ran, then jumped. In the heat I don't know how they get the energy, but they never seem to tire! I suppose the food we give them charges them up for the day!

Today's afterschool class was treated to learning about "animals" today. For some reason, they kept mixing up fish and sheep - there must be some strange looking fish saying "baa" in Sri Lanka! I stuck to animals I could vaguely draw - fish, sheep, cow, duck, pig and then the problem came with horse!! Fortunately there was a book of "old MacDonald" and lo and behold there was a horse for me to point to! improvisation is the way forward!

Tonight Gordon and I have been invited to a "Pot Luck" dinner. It is arranged by the Chamber of Commerce as they realised there are "foreigners" in Hambantota who were generally alone/in pairs. We all have to bring a dish each - so if everyone turns up with pasta, we all eat pasta! Think there are about 8 of us from USA, Canada, and Norway so should be interesting. We are cheating a bit with our dish - Gordon is making roast chicken and I'm providing the roasted potatoes and veg. so we're really splitting the dish but no one needs to know! Suppose that means we should really hit the shops now and start preparing.....!
