Turku, founded in the 13th century, is the oldest city in Finland. It has a population of 175 000, making it the fifth largest city in Finland.

For backbaggers and other budget travellers I would like to recommend Hostel Turku. The hostel is situated by the River Aura in Linnankatu 39. The city centre as well as Turku Castle and the passenger harbour are close by. The prices start from 15 euros a night, the staff is friendly and the premises clean and comfortable.
