We spent a night in a small village outside Grand Junction, CO. We were wined & dined by a refreshingly "southern" young gentleman named Matthew. We were surrounded by mesas in a sea of blue collars. Exposing Gus to the gentile seemed to have a sophisticated effect on his mannerisms(as shown in the pictures.) After a long night of conversation with topics ranging from politics, government, sparkly shirts/purses, music(namely the Fruit Bats-they come highly recommended), frat buddies....the average conversation, our spirits began to head south. The next day our travel would lead us into dangerous country and we felt very vulnerable. "May I suggest that I might escort you two fine young ladies through the land of the Mormons?" Matthew suggested. "Why that would be mighty fine of you Mr. Matt." Holly said. So we retired to Matt's mansion where he made available a room for us to stay.
