September 13th began with no rain but still lots of cloud and wind of 35 - 40 kph which the locals assured us was only a breeze as the wind had "no guts".  We started our day by travelling a bit further south to view the surf and the Seilebost sandy beach.

We then headed north through Tarbet and on up into the Isle of Lewis.  As we moved further north the winds increased and the rain started but it did not seem to impeed the many cyclists we passed on the road - I can not imagine how they must have felt.

After a visit to the Town of Stornoway we made our way to the Calanais Standing Stones in the early afternoon where despite the wind and rain we did manage to visit the magnificent Standing Stones.  We then travelled further north to a place called Brock where we visited a Blackhouse Museum / Village.  At this location there are not only displays but also actual Blackhouses that you can rent as self catering accomodations.  These Blackhouses are quite different to the one at the Highland Village in Iona as they show the houses as they were in the 1960's and 1970's with painted walls, floor covering, etc.

Given the rather grim weather we elected not to travel to the Butt of Lewis but rather proceeded onward to our next stop in Back a small rural area about 8 miles north of stornoway.
