We made it to Valla Beach, just north of Nambucca ("uckah" not “ookah”) Heads. Decided to spend two nights. The relatively small caravan park was located within a very large holiday park development, full of permanent cottages and owned cabins. From the park you walk over a tidal inlet on a wooden bridge to access a wonderful sandy beach. I'd say you might see 5 people on the 5 kms of beach. Nice long walks. Did some “worming” during low tide. This was taught to me by my neighbor in Manly. You take half a pair of women’s nylons, add some fish offal, tie it off with a piece of string and then drag it through the receding waves. The sea worms sense the fish and stick their heads out of the sand. You can then grab them with a pair of plastic pliers. Though I was able to locate worms, I failed in grabbing them with the pliers. Will let you know when (if) I succeed. Saw a Tawny Frog Mouth owl.
