We had a very informative day of MTUG meetings learning that many states are rolling out state-wide radio systems and consolidating existing systems-of-systems.  Meanwhile herself pedalled her ass off on a bicycle today, pedalling across the Golden Gate Bridge and over to Saucilito, then back on a ferry to San Fran just in time to meet a bunch of us for a late supper - at a seafood place.  Very good fresh seafood here - especially Dungeness crab.  I think we'll turn in early this evening to continue the jet-lag adjustment.  We do a harbour cruise with MTUG tomorrow evening when we'll see Alcatraz Island and the Golden Gate Bridge from the water.  And so to bed.

Monday I was back in meetings for an hour, then we went by bus to the main communication system site for the city and three surrounding counties with 7 million population.  The pictures I took with my Blackberry as I didn't expect to see much view from a communications centre, so I didn't bother to take my camera.  Lesson learned.  It's very hard to estmate how far we were away from the bridge but it was a much more imposing site than what this picture would suggest.  This communications tower was one of the oddest I have ever seen.  They are running three separate radio systems based at this site with a huge equipment shelter all at the top of a big hill.  This has to be the hilliest place I've ever seen.  It makes Halifax seem like a pancake by comparison.

This evening we are on a three hour dinner cruise of the Bay, so I should be able to get a few good shots from the water.
