Savin, our Tuk Tuk Driver from yesterday took us out of town to Tonle Sap - a massive lake which recedes with the dry season - to see the people that live on the water.

Tonle Sap grows to about 16,000km2 and shrinks to less hat 3,000km2 in the dry season. The Mekong reverses into this lake, to fill it and then in the dry season the lake provides about half the water for the Mekong flow.

Many villages and their people live on the water - you can see grounded boats and homes in the dry season. The schools are all floating and move with the villages. The houses are often built on top of two small boats lashed together. The alternative is to rebuild each season.
