Vienna has a several more Palaces, gardens, and museums to visit, more than my time here would allow, so I had to settle on just one today. The Kunsthistoriches Museum is one of the few major galleries in Europe that was built specifically to house paintings and sculptures. The main stairways and atria are stunningly beautiful. It nearly overshadows the art inside it. If you are a fan of Rubens, this is the museum for you: Big canvases, lots of flesh.

That afternoon was spent trying to catch up two other freaks of nature, Ellie and Nicole from Oz. My readers will recognize those two from my days in Amsterdam and Berlin. Third times a charm, it seems, and they had a day's layover in Vienna before heading off to Thailand. They really are great people and it was fun hanging out with them again, however briefly. I'm looking forward to good time with them in Sydney when I get there (cross my fingers).

Vienna is a little different than most of the big capital cities I've been to as it seems quite calm. People are all doing their thing, but there doesn't seem to be that crowded urgency and noise you find in most metropolises. Maybe it's because there are a lot of parks around, or it's much easier to get out of the city than most places. I'm looking forward to coming back and seeing more of the city and surrounding area. I have a feeling that it'd quite worthwhile. Now if it weren't so damn expensive than we'd really have something...
