After a nice relaxing stay at Chad and Isabelle's in Montreal, we hit the road at about 10am on Tuesday morning - leaving late to avoid traffic. We managed to avoid the traffic, but did not avoid Connell's bad mood and it took a while to get out of the city since we had to stop every 2km or so. Finally Heather squished in the back seat with him and he settled down so we could get moving. Heather's squish was not nearly as eventful as Ian's squish into the back seat later in the day when we switched drivers in Ontario, but it was squishy none the less.
Not too much else happened. We crossed over into the US, missing out on a picture by the Welcome to NY sign, but that was in the customs area, and we thought we'd forgo it rather than risk the rath of US customs officers. It was a surprisingly warm night, and everyone had a good rest. Today we hope to make it out of New York, and maybe into Ohio - there's only a teeny bit of Pennsylvania in between. It's kind of different travelling here than Canada, as neither of us has a good idea of the size of the states, so it's hard to judge progress, but the interstate highways are great, good condition, great signage, and good rest stops (we're enjoying one right now). We should make really good driving time.
