The pictures tell the story. The scenery amazing - walking through rural Spain - diary farms, cattle, country villages and cobblestone lanes. Stopping at village churches and cementries - over bridges through forest pathways, crossing streams - no end to the camino magic.
Our first stop for coffee was at Balabadero where we discovered true Spanish coffee and hospitality in a typical family home opened up for the pilgrims - beyond words!
At the end of the walk for this day we were enjoying wine and olives in local hotel and to our enormous surprise Enrique arrives in a open buggy/jeep and whisks us away to our first night's accommodation - a true "under the Tuscan sun" home - overlooking the river. We were grateful to survive the trip - all hanging on tight!! We then celebrated the day with gin and tonic while Bern massaged our feet.
After a huge home cooked meal (first of many) we all collapsed into bed ready to face Day 2.
