We took a trip to Charleston from Durham during fall break of the first year we were at school. We were excited to see the beach but the most impressive parts of Charleston were the bridges and old buildings. Our daughter had really never been to the beach before and we thought she would live it. When we took her shoes off and stepped into the sand she did not like the feeling and cried like crazy. There were a few minutes where she tolderated it for a second but for the most part it was crying. Charleston had a big outlet store that was nice to shop at and a aircraft carrier that was a lot bigger than we imagined. We also saw a vietnam memorial and was neat to see the way the soldiers lived there and some of the boobie traps that were set in that area. We did get lost at one point and ended up in a very rough area that I would have hated to break down at. We spent one night and enjoyed the trip.
