Left early for the airport so we would get there 2 hrs early for an international flight.  Don decided to take Le Jeune road down to the airport.  I was talking to Courtney about a duck so Don looked over to see and crashed into the back of a truck.  We both pulled over and an elderly Hispanic man got out and said, “No problem,” shook Don’s hand, and went to get back in his truck.  I guess he thought about it and decided he better look at the damage, which there was none, said, “no problem” again and drove off.  Meanwhile Don has about a thousand dollars worth of damage.    The whole time I was panicking, thinking that we were going to miss our flight.

We got to the airport on time and decided to wrap all of our checked-in luggage in plastic.  We had heard that the handlers in Costa Rica pilfer through the luggage.  Spent $50 for four bags.

We had a 45 minute delay, so I emailed our hosts that it would be another hour hoping they would get the email before they left.  Unfortunately, they did not get it and waited outside for us for three hours.

We arrived and went through customs and then had to wait in line to get our bags x-rayed.  The whole process took about 1 hour.  After we left the secure area we went around the corner to see a glass wall of people all pressed against the glass holding up signs.  We saw our sign and recognized our hosts, Deb and Bob and apparently they recognized us from the picture we sent them.

We had a nice drive to San Ramon with both of them filling us in with interesting info.  They moved here from Naples, Florida six years ago and bought six acres in San Ramon.  They built a main house and three villas on their property.  They rent out the villas and keep them booked year round.  We are staying in the three bedroom villa with an awesome view.

We rented their Galloper SUV which is 4 Wd for the two weeks we are here.

They open their house to their guests with a large supply of dvd’s and books to borrow and let you use their computers.  They offer breakfast every morning to the guests.  On Sunday morning they have church services in their home.

On the way home we stopped for dinner at Tinajitas, an open air “soda”,  Food was served cafeteria style and was very good.  They had large servings but it is no problem since Robby can and does finish everybody’s leftovers.  All seven of us ate for $38.00.  I tried some of everything and really liked it all.  I asked for small portions but unfortunately they didn’t understand.

We arrived at the villa and immediately began a descent down a steep driveway with a very steep drop off past the driveway.  One wrong turn and we will find ourselves on the roof of the villa.

We unloaded the van and then boarded again to drive up to the main house.  The van was not a 4 wd and had a hard time making it up the driveway.  Deb, Courtney and Sara got nervous and climbed up to the flat road and waited while we drove up.  We then drove down to their house to look around and pick up our vehicle.  They have a beautiful atrium and glass front porch.

We couldn't see the view as we were in the clouds at the time but Deb described what we will see when it clears.  Deb explained that they built their house in the path of hummingbirds so when they built their porch they installed glass doors on both ends so the hummingbirds could fly through.  I am looking forward to going back to see that.

We left  soon after and were looking forward to sleeping with the windows open.  It was very cool and perfect with the floor fan provided.  The only strange thing is the bedding is very damp.  That took some getting used to.
