We took a bus ride south to the little Mediterranean village Nafplio. The town was beautifully situated on a peninsula where we could relax and enjoy the sea.
We took a little stroll up the hill to the old fort that looks out onto the water and it was great. The views were amazing and the place very relaxing. We spent a couple of days looking around the small town's museums and walking streets, and of course, drinking a little coffee. That is, we drank coffee when the cafes were not filled with so many smokers that it choked us out. It is hard to believe how many people smoke here and that they smoke absolutely everywhere. I think we may be developing smoker's cough!
The man running our guest house is quite the card. When he found out we were from Calgary, he started reciting all these facts about the Flames. He knew about their cup run, how they lost game 6 at home, and most surprising - the number of miles between Tampa Bay and Calgary! And like a true fan, he even blamed the Flames loss on poor refereeing! Ha ha ha. We loved it!
