After a couple of long days on the ferry, bus, and visiting Nairobi again it was off to Amboseli National park for one last safari.  Amboseli sits in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, and with it as its back drop makes for gorgeous scenery.

The trip to the park from Nairobi left much to be desired.  The roads were probably the worst we have seen on the trip yet, and left all our limbs rattled.  We were all very excited to get out of the vehicle when we arrived at the Sentrim lodge.  And what a lodge it was!  It was probably the nicest place we have stayed yet.  Think The Sheraton meets Mt. Kilimanjaro.  I was so excited when I saw the normal bathroom and vanity.  Quite the luxury days!

The lodge has an outdoor swimming pool, gourmet restaurant and has an incredible view of Mt. Kili in the mornings (before the clouds settle in).  There were also lots of birds (hornbills, waxbills, rollers, and weavers).

We ended up going a number of game drives into the park which is not that large but has a huge density of wildlife.  With hundreds of animals everywhere we got a great chance to snap lots of pictures.  The numbers of wildebeest, gazelles, impalas, hyenas, zebras, and elephants was unbelievable.

We also had a remarkable small world story.  In Zanzibar, we met a fellow Canadian from Montreal who was working with Doctors Without Borders in the Congo.  And lo and behold, the woman who joined us on our safari in Amboseli works at the same hospital in the Congo with him!  She's his boss.  What are the odds?
