We spent lots of time looking through museums in Cusco and then flew to Lima and spent more time looking through museums. The San Franciscan catacombs were a highlight: 25,000 sets of bones underneath a beautiful colonial church. Creepy but fascinating. San Franciscan monks still live and are buried there to this day.
Lima is pretty different from Puno/Cusco: we are at sea level so we donīt breathe as hard here, plus the kids try to sell you gum instead of souvenirs. Hotels are more expensive (our hostel was $30 per night) but food costs about the same. The food in Lima has been pretty good whereas the rest of the trip was a little more hit or miss. Almost no one in Lima wears traditional peruvian clothes so that was different as well. Lima is much warmer and also very humid so our skin felt nicer but our hair frizzed up. The four of us watched Batman with spanish subtitles, and it was awesome.
